downtime: 할일이 그렇게 많지 않을때 사용

 

We got sidetracked towards the end and I want to follow up on some things that came up earlier in our discussion

막판에 (얘기가) 다른길로 좀 새서 초반에 나왔던 얘기들을 좀 더 이어서 하고 싶어

get sidetracked: 무언가 이야기 하다 옆으로 샘

 

I think we touched on some important issues and I'd love it if we could just talk through some of them

중요한 문제에 대한 내용이 나왔던 것 같은데 그 중 몇 가지만 얘기로 좀 풀어가면 좋을 것 같아

mentioned: 말로 언급된 것을 포함

touched on: 이야기로 다룰려고 하는것을 넓게 포함

talk through: 대화를 이끌어나가고 풀어나가는 과정

I'll spare you: 막아주겠다 보호해 주겠다(여기선 지루하지 않게 자세한건 말하지 않겠다는 의미)

take someone's place: 누군가의 자리를 취하다

fill in: 누군가의 역할이나 자리의 공백을 메꾸다

 

What?! No! You think you can fill her shoes? It's ridiculous. It should be me!

뭐?! 안돼! 너가 그녀의 역할을 제대로 해낼거 같아? 말도안돼. 이건 내가 해야 한다고!

fill someone's shoes: 누군가의 공백을 제대로 채우다. 제대로 수행하다

 

Alright. Alright. Listen. Remember, this is just temporary. No one is replacing her for good, OK? She wants me to make this decision on her behalf so you're just going to have to go with it this time
